Do you love working with startups and have a startup centric approach to designing and delivering valuable experiences for Start-ups?

Most likely you already actively attend startup ecosystem events due to an insatiable curiosity around those startups that are defining the Australian (fintech) Startup Ecosystem and community.

We are looking for a Community Experience Manager to join our team.  We want you to have an ‘empathy first’ attitude, as you get to know our start-ups’ individual ideas, fears and aspirations, you will help them to continuously implement activities that create value and accelerate their growth and commercial success.

Being part of the community you understand their perspective and environment first hand.

WHAT WILL HELP YOU SUCCEED?

Being a confident presenter/ facilitator and uber networker – as you will communicate with over 100+ start-up companies based at Stone & Chalk to proactively stimulate conversations which uncover connections with the potential to generate high value for those involved and enrich the wider ecosystem.

Relationship/Account Management and/or Business Development experience with SMEs will set you up for success.  Highly organised, you are able to drive and prioritise project plans and communicate and celebrate key milestones, both an individual startup level and at the wider team,  community and even Ecosystem level.

You have ability to think commercially, connect the dots and identify opportunities, resulting in valuable connections being established across the startup population, generating further business opportunities and connections.

Experience in planning and delivering events as you listen to the fintech startups community needs, and drive a program of relevant activities/events that provide knowledge, insight and practical tools to accelerate each startup’s journey.  A program that delivers value to an individual startup and to the collective fintech ecosystem locally and internationally!

You execute with attention to detail driven by a strong Customer Service work ethic, experience and understanding.   You know it is the attention to those little details that ensure happy clients when delivering well-received events/activities.

Due to your strong delivery you become known for delivering high impact and valuable events, that strengthen S&C startups and enable the community to gain further peer value.  With an ability to be scrappy, responsive, and resourceful you are quick at rolling up your sleeves (whatever the weather!) to get things done, startup style.

Most likely you have a university degree with at least 5 years’ post qualification experience in a business/commercial role so you have a good business understanding/ foundation.

A DAY IN THE LIFE IN OUR COMMUNITY MANAGER…

You will be…

Supporting the design and implementation of the Community Engagement Program and spending time with Start-up companies through all stages of the journey (resident lifecycle) to gain a thorough knowledge of their business in order to develop the ability to identify relevant and timely opportunities, programs, and valuable connections to help them scale.

Designing and communicating relevant events/activities for all Stone & Chalk Start-up companies based on their Start-up stage and needs, and working alongside the Community and Operations Co-ordinator in relation to all associated logistics e.g. catering, booking spaces and communications to ensure the show goes on!

Delivering tours of Stone & Chalk for prospective Start-ups, Special Visitors, Corporate Partners, Nominated Mentors, Trade Delegations and Government Officials & Trade Parties.

Interviewing prospective Start-ups to assess their suitability as a resident of Stone & Chalk and/or welcoming a new startup to the community on the beginning of their journey with us.

Supplying a continuous stream of content and news re Start-up events and activities to the Marketing team to communicate across our Social Media channels, community newsletters, website and other news channels.

Developing and reviewing each Startup’s Relationship Management Plan to make sure you are tracking against the activities planned. And of course, you will be updating our CRM with all your interactions with our Startups.

Developing and managing relationships across the broader ecosystem including looking out for Start-ups that we could welcome in our hub when we have a capacity.

Helping those startups that are ready to transition out of S&C and ensuring they stay connected and involved with the community via our startup alumni program.

HOW WILL YOU KNOW YOU ARE SUCCESSFUL?

Our KPIs keep us focused and include things such as:

  • Feedback from our Start-ups on their interaction with you on their journey, and your ‘empathy first’ approach.
  • How you are tracking against the activities you agreed with each Startup –
  • Occupancy rates.
  • Any ‘hero’ moments – after all, your job is to make our Start-ups successful so we expect plenty of ‘hero’ moments to come from you.
